I am from Pakistan, and there it is almost the similar terrible situation on eunuchs as there is in India. I do feel deeply sorry for them and this article is a very good proper researched one. I wish that the activists could make a change on large scale by now. its like 1000 people do research on them but only one out of them ACTUALLY do something to bring change in their life (even if its to a small extent). I do have full respect for all the authors and researchers who have successfully managed to spread awareness of inequal treatment and full of torture lives of eunuchs. This article is a very good and thought provoking insight.

A hermaphrodite male born with persistent Mullerican duct syndrome will have ovaries. A hermaphrodite is a (metaphorically ) eunuch if they have undescended testes and were born with androgen insensitivity syndrome so they cannot father children. Hermaphrodites and eunuchs are otherwise very different things.

I would just like to say that this article lacks research and keeps addressing the eunuch or the inter-sex community as CREATURES , they are people and the attitude towards them should be first changed and that would have to reflect in one's writing and that would mean addressing them as persons or people not creatures.

Read the book: 'REVATHI' - a life story of a eunuch. Its a Penguin publication. Revathi provides the reader much insight into the lives of hijras/transgender people like herself. The book is an eye-opener.

 How dare particular portions of this article. The Hijra experience is one filled with mysticism and religious duty. Something ancient like this should be respected and placed as testimony of human will and happiness, no matter what the cost!

 Efforts have been made to restore the rights and powers of the Eunuchs in India. Campaigns, conferences, are conducted in order to protect this so called socially excluded and deprived group of the country. Lots of support is given to them, in case of violations of human rights to them. But, what if the Eunuchs violate the rights of common civilians? Are their rights and laws protecting the non-eunuchs? I got married recently and a team of eunuchs visited my house asking my mother in law for money, not the bit that one would happily give someone on an occasion of wedding. Demanding a n amount of twenty one thousand and threatening if not fulfilled, was nothing but an extortion or perhaps a case of happy open robbery in the name of marriage. After a lot of negotiations, my mother-in-law, being alone in the house, settled for fifteen thousand. The eunuchs claim that they are registered and have the permission to ‘extort’ money out of families, where there has happened a so called happy occasion such as wedding or a birth of a baby. I would like to question my fellow Indians, is this we call a rightful act? Had such an act being conducted by an economically poor person, this would have been termed as an extortion… but just because it is committed by a group hermaphrodite citizens, it is termed as – a gift of happiness, which increases with every occasion in the same house. I would like to question my human rights guardians: •	Do you have rights which restrict and guard such acts? •	Do you have any power to punish such people who conduct such acts? If so, then where and how do we report such acts?

I am very sorry to say your article is not a different one at all. It talks something and says something. your article is entirely based on what people or a few doctors or Eunuchs say..dear you are dealing with human lives and then rights..come up with some facts and research. You are gossiping how they have nirwani or castration...or taking about their rights. See what is Klienfelter\'s syndrome in google..and give a break to yourself. ALL THE VERYU BEST!!
